      *****Celebrate Flag Day****
The first symbol of the United States was given to us by our Founding
Fathers on June 14, 1777 and in August 1949 National Flag Day was
established by an act of Congress. We look to “Old Glory”as a symbol
of Freedom. There is respect and loyalty wherever she waves.

    ECONOMIC ISSUES

    Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

    6pm

    North Ranch Country Club

    Panel of well informed speakers

North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village was the location for TORWF’s first event of 2011.  Seventy members and guests which included quite a few men, enjoyed the extensive and delicious array of Italian cuisine at our Chianti and “Pasta Night.”  The featured speakers at this event: Mr. Jerry Lukiewski, President of Ventura County Business Bank; and also Pepperdine University’s, Dr. Michael Shires.  Both speakers did very well outlining and bringing us up-to-date on the status of California’s finances.

Mr. Lukiewski discussed the regulations that are especially placing burdens on small businesses.  Dr. Shires whose primary areas of teaching and research include state, regional and local policy, was also interesting and very enlightening about current economic policies.

We were pleased that our club made a profit on this first event of the new year.

  • TORWF hosts German & Czec Republic Students

The Thousand Oaks Republican Women,Federated hosted a special event on Saturday, June 10, 2010 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
This special day, "HIGHLIGHTS OF DEMOCRACY", TORWF hosted eight students from Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic taking part in the "LIBERTY EDUCATION TOUR", Part OF THE "Reagan Legacy Foundation."; nineteen students from America had just returned from Europe on this unique student exchange program.
The students from Europe were given a special tour of the Ronald Reagan Library, followed by a buffet luncheon under the helicopter and Air Force One plane.
In addtion each student was given an American Flag and a pocket booklet of the American Constitution.
At the conclusion of the Liberty Education Tour, students will be fully prepared to return to their communities as a 'Freedom Fellow', knowing the precepts of Liberty and fortified to act in defense of thise principles.  The students compare the policies of Democracy and socialism, learn about the American founding principles and the legacy of liberty.
We were delighted to have Michael Reagan join us with the students.  He had so much insight to share with them.
